Zabala is the artistic name of Jon Aguirrezabalaga, a composer and producer based in Bilbao. He studied at the Escuela de Música Creativa in Madrid and at El Aula de Música Moderna y Jazz in Barcelona.

In recent years, he has composed the soundtrack for the film Singular — starring Patricia López Arnaiz and Javier Rey — together with Ana Arsuaga (Verde Prato), and the music for the Movistar+ documentary Mercenario, accompanied by Maite Arroitajauregi (Mursego). He is also responsible for the soundtracks of the documentaries Cabeza y Corazón and Sintrópica, as well as short films such as Ur Azpian Lore and Catfinement

In addition to composition, he has worked on the music production and mixing of films like Maspalomas, Miss Carbón, Los Aitas, and the series Disappeared.

In theatre, he composed the music for Ama Kuraia, a production by Teatro Arriaga directed by María Goiricelaya, with whom he also collaborated on the 2021 adaptation of Yerma, produced by Sala BBK.

A former member of the now-defunct band We Are Standard — with whom he released four albums and played over 500 concerts internationally — Zabala currently combines his work as a composer for film and theatre with personal projects and production work for other artists from his studio, El Tigre, located in the Deusto neighborhood of Bilbao. There, he has collaborated with artists such as Verde Prato, Sara Zozaya, Kokoshca, Silitia, Delaporte, Merina Gris, Airu, and Reina Republicana, among others.

As Zabala, he released his latest LP No Club in 2024, which was featured in prestigious publications such as Metal Magazine, Far Out Magazine, and BBC6. His previous releases include Martian Civilization OST (Forbidden Colours, 2022) and the EP Vik (Mushroom Pillow, 2019).
